We're so excited about the
news from Paducah!
Jennifer received the third
place award in the Young
Designers category at AQS.
This new award was sponsored
by Olfa and was established to
encourage more young people
to become involved in sewing
and quilting. They were looking
for quilts that would show
quiltmaking stretching beyond
it’s traditional roots, into the
21st century. Jen decided to
make a whole cloth quilt, which
is a traditional idea, but she
chose non-traditional design
elements, including circles,
swirls and paisleys for the
quilting motifs. She used
AutoSketch, on the computer,
to plan the layout of her
quilting design and, of course,
stitched it out with the
Gammill/Statler Stitcher.   The
judges were impressed with
her technical execution and
her design layout.
Jen was excited to have her
work recognized and is looking
forward to quilting more for
herself and quilting for others.
Let us know if you have a quilt
top you’d like Jen to quilt for
you.
