are fine bias stems plus both strip and circular ruched flowers. Applique on a very small scale.
French Basket-Applique this 1920's style basket and fill it with ruched flowers. Learn strip
ruching for the basket handle and new circular ruching for two sizes of flowers.

Wildflowers-Stitch a bouquet of pansies and lily-of-the-valley tied with flowing ribbon.
Techniques covered are free-form lily-of-the-valley, unit appliqué ribbon and embroidery
in chain stitch, stem stitch and satin stitch.
NOEL-This holiday wallhanging features a garland of evergreen and holly, tied with a bow.
Dimensional applique techniques include gathered, stuffed and unit-applique, plus free-form

Spring Bouquet-Create a bouquet of carnation, wildflowers and lily-of-the-valley tied with a

Heart Wreath-This heart-shaped vine wreath blooms with ruched flowers, buds and berries and

Miniature Baltimore Basket-Album style applique in miniature. Create a 6"
Baltimore-style block with a woven basket, strip and circular ruched flowers, free-form

Follett House Flowers-Fill a vase with dimensional red and green appliqué in the style of
the Follett House album quilt. Techniques covered are bias stems, padded and stuffed

Learn to add fine detail to your appliqué, using many different stitches and weights of thread,
including outline, stem, chain, smooth and textured satin stitches, knots, color blending and

TWO-DAY WORKSHOPS
Miniature Album Quilt-This nine block album quilt has a 6" center block with woven
basket, strip and circular ruched flowers, free form berries, a ruched butterfly and
embroidery. Add other blocks of wreaths and bouquets and finish the quilt with a dogtooth
border.
Daffodils and Hummingbird-Create a small dimensional appliqué wall hanging, featuring
three-dimensional daffodils, ruched violets and a hummingbird. Techniques covered are
corded stems, padded appliqué, ruched flowers, free-form bud, unit-appliqué leaves and
embroidery.
Harvest Wreath-Create a wreath of fruit, fall leaves, ruched flowers, berries, acorns and a
butterfly. Techniques covered are corded stems, padded and stuffed appliqué, ruching, free-form
berries, and natural embellishment. Embroidery embellishment in stem, outline, chain stitch, satin
stitch and knots.
Evergreen Wreath-Create an embroidered evergreen wreath embellished with a bow, holly,
berries, chickadees and ruched pine cones. Techniques covered are corded stems, padded

Sunflower Patch-Use folk art applique and embroidery techniques to stitch this almost
life-size sunflower wall hanging. Add other embellishments of crow, spiderweb or bittersweet.
Learn strip ruching for larger size flowers, plus embroidered knots, stem, chain, blanket and
running stitch. $5 pattern fee.
Surface Textures:Epergne of Fruit-Discover how combinations of cording, padding and
stuffed work can add surface texture to your quilts. Begin a large wall hanging using seven
different approaches to raised work, including corded stems, corded tendrils, two types of padded
work, stuffed berries, motifs stuffed in units, and a stuffed feather technique.
Drafting Feathers to Fit the Quilt-Design and piece an Amish style wall quilt, such as Center
Square or Diamond, Amish Bars, Sunshine and Shadow or Broken Dishes. Then learn hands-on,
how to use the Infinite Feathers tool to draft your own feather designs to fill blocks of any size,
and borders which fit and turn the corner perfectly. Also adjust and combine ready-made stencils
to fit the quilt. Two days.

Hands-on Judging-For those wanting experience in the role of quilt judge, aide or scribe.
Learn the duties, responsibilities and ethics of working on the judging floor. Full day.
Quilt Judging Seminar-An in-depth study of the judging process, including duties and
responsibilities, specific criteria for hand and machine work, color and design, categories and
awards, comment sheets, contracts and other paperwork, ethics, and the role of aides and
scribes. Lecture and hands-on experience will be used throughout the two days.

Freehand Background Textures-Learn to quilt a variety of freehand background patterns, so
essential for wholecloth and applique quilts, as well as open areas on pieced quilts. This class will
add an heirloom touch to your work, whether you are using a longarm, midarm or domestic sewing
machine on a frame. This workshop requires use of up to ten longarm machines. Half day,
hands-on, 2 students per machine. Students will work on individual sampler quilts to take home.
Kit fee $25
Faux Trapunto and Stipple Quilting Lecture-Learn a little about the history of trapunto and
see examples made by hand and machine. Then discover an easy way to add raised motifs to
wholecloth and applique quilts, as well as open areas on pieced quilts. This technique will add an
heirloom touch to your work, whether you are using a longarm, midarm or domestic sewing machine
on a frame.










Beginning Autosketch-Join Anita as she teaches students how to unlock the mysteries of
digitized designs. Install a quilting toolbar and learn how to use the basic drawing tools to create a
simple design. Time will be spent in hands on practice tracing an image. Then, learn to edit your
drawing and save it as a stitching file for use on the Statler Stitcher. As time allows, add more
advanced drawing techniques such as rotation, mirroring, and circular array for creating complex
designs. Hands-on work. Requires laptop with Autosketch and Precision Stitch programs loaded.

Designing Borders and Corners for the Statler Stitcher-Discover how to size and place
patterns and how to connect them together to create the perfect frame for your quilt Learn to
choose patterns that work well together, or create new corner patterns to work with existing
borders. See a variety of ways to make a smooth transition around the corner. Power point
presentation with many step by step examples to show how the designs can be developed. Will
include discussions on using Precision Stitch, Creative Studio, and AutoSketch. Half Day.
Statler Structure with Freehand Frills-Use digitized patterns to set the structure for your
quilting design, then fill in with freehand feathers, fillers and other frills. Create original blocks,
borders and background fills for your next quilt, save them in Creative Studio, and quilt them

Statler Duos-Learn how to combine simple digitized patterns to create more complex designs.
Build your own pattern groups to fill blocks and borders and save them to use again. Half Day
